Distinguishing Marks: A jagged black scar running down his left cheek; his right forearm bears  the seared sigil of Azrithul, proof of his unholy pact

• Dark, tattered robes laced with runic embroidery that shifts subtly when touched by shadow 

• A high-collared cloak that moves unnaturally, almost as if alive 

• Leather gauntlets reinforced with obsidian-like plating  

Weapons: 

• A curved dagger forged from void-forged steel, said to drink the warmth of those it  wounds 

• A wickedly crafted long staff, imbued with dark Nexus energy, allowing him to siphon the will of the weak  

Abilities & Traits: 

• Master of the Dark Nexus: Xathis draws power from the black tendrils of the Nexus, using it to manipulate shadows, instill fear, and corrupt the weak-minded.

• Soul Hunter: He has the uncanny ability to sense desperation, pain, and unresolved grief —making him a master at luring the lost into his master’s grasp. 

• Manipulator of Will: His voice is hypnotic, his words coated in subtle enchantment. Those who listen too long find themselves doubting their own convictions.

• Unnatural Resilience: His body is no longer fully human—cutting him does not always make him bleed, and pain is merely an inconvenience. 

• Servant of Azrithul: His loyalty to his demon lord binds him, but it also grants him power. Through dark incantations, he can summon echoes of his master’s will into the mortal world. 

Background & Role in the Story:

Xathis was once a scholar of the Nexus, seeking wisdom beyond mortal comprehension. But his  ambition led him down forbidden paths, and in his hunger for knowledge, he pledged himself to  Azrithul, Binder of Shadows. Over time, his humanity eroded, replaced by cold calculation and an unshakable belief in the dominion of strength over weakness. 

He roams the world, an agent of corruption, seeking lost souls ripe for the taking. His presence is felt in whispers, in the growing doubt of those who once stood firm in the light. He is patient, cunning, and utterly without remorse. 

Philosophy & Motivations: 

Xathis does not see himself as a villain. In his eyes, he is merely revealing the truth: the strong thrive, the weak are consumed, and the Nexus is the only true power in existence. Compassion is a weakness. Mercy is a lie. Order is forged through domination, and only those willing to embrace the shadows will ever be free. 

To him, Brennar is a masterpiece in the making—a soul torn between grief and purpose, a vessel of raw potential. But like all things, he must be broken and reforged in darkness before he can truly be strong.
